The principle is elegantly simple: a collapsible wire mesh container lined with geotextile fabric, which is opened, positioned, and filled with locally available material — sand, soil, gravel, or aggregate. Once filled, the structure becomes a dense, stable mass that provides ballistic protection, flood resistance, or erosion control as required. When the mission is complete, the units can be emptied and collapsed for transport or redeployment.
